Glossary

Eighteen terms used across the site, defined in one place.

Definitions for the institutional, regulatory, and product terms procurement evaluators encounter on the Ascendia site. Each definition resolves to either a public regulation, a programme on the record, or a product surface.

ARB — Romanian Banking Association
The institutional association of banks operating in Romania. ARB is one of the three institutional counterparties (alongside Romanian Police and DNSC) on Ascendia's national digital-safety campaign "Protection through Education" (2023–2024).
BVB AeRO
The alternative trading system of the Bucharest Stock Exchange. Ascendia is listed on the BVB AeRO Premium segment under ticker ASC since 7 July 2016.
BVB current report
A regulatory disclosure filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange when a listed company has material information to communicate to the market. Ascendia’s recent current reports include LIVRESQ Companion (Apr 2026) and NVIDIA Connect (Jul 2025).
CALM — Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova
The national-level association of local authorities for the Republic of Moldova. CALM is one of the two institutional counterparties (alongside Council of Europe) on Ascendia's structured-feedback record published in March 2026.
CoffeeLMS
Ascendia’s learning management system for regulated enterprise. SCORM/xAPI-compatible delivery, audit trails, SAML 2.0 SSO, hierarchical organisations.
Council of Europe
Continental institution operating across 46 member states. Council of Europe project officer Olesea Moghilda rated Ascendia's delivered learning module 5/5 across visual design, learner engagement, deadline adherence, and added value (Mar 2026).
DPA — Data Processing Agreement
An Article 28 GDPR contract between data controller and data processor. Ascendia executes a DPA with each institutional tenant on LIVRESQ and CoffeeLMS; review and signed return inside the published 10-working-day SLA.
DEC — Digital Education Content
The European Commission expert group inside DG EAC tasked with developing guidelines and quality requirements for digital learning materials. Ascendia is a member since 1 July 2024.
DNSC — Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate
The Romanian national-level cybersecurity authority. DNSC is one of the three institutional counterparties on Ascendia's "Protection through Education" national digital-safety campaign (2023–2024) alongside Romanian Police and ARB.
Digital Europe Programme
EU funding programme for accelerating the digital transformation of public administration, businesses, and citizens across the European Union. Reference programme inside Ascendia's EU Programme Capacity surface.
EAA — European Accessibility Act
Directive EU 2019/882 establishing common European accessibility requirements for products and services. Entry-into-force obligations begin in 2025.
EduLib
EduLib is a nationally implemented virtual library for gymnasium-level education and the first project of its kind in Romania, with individualized and assisted learning components. Ascendia participated in the consortium through LIVRESQ direct licensing for the Ministry of Education and e-learning content development services; impact: 700,000+ pupils and 100,000 teachers.
Erasmus+
EU programme supporting education, training, youth, and sport across Europe. Ascendia's Erasmus+ presence anchors EU Programme Capacity work and aligns with EPALE adult-learning practice contributions.
EMPASS
Erasmus+ Forward Looking programme participation with the JA Europe consortium. EU-funded programme participation with completion recorded for December 2026.
EN 301 549
European harmonised standard for accessibility of ICT products and services. Used as the procurement-grade reference alongside WCAG, and a member of Ascendia's Accessibility pillar evidence surface.
EPALE
European Commission's open-membership multilingual community for adult-learning professionals. Ascendia contributed two practice notes through EPALE on Romanian digitalisation experience (Mar 2026), placing institutional practice into the European peer-review channel.
Five-partner consortium (First Aid)
The procurement structure behind the BVB-disclosed national First Aid campaign (Aug 2023): Ascendia + four institutional partners covering content production, public communication, clinical authority, emergency-response expertise, and the teaching-staff cohort.
Google for Startups Growth Academy: AI for GovTech
Google accelerator for AI-based public-sector solutions. LIVRESQ was accepted into the first EMEA cohort, announced 24 September 2025 — 25 solutions selected globally, the only one from Romania. Three-month programme with mentorship from Google executives. The programme accelerated development of LIVRESQ Companion (see separate entry).
Horizon Europe
EU framework programme for research and innovation. Reference programme on Ascendia's EU Programme Capacity surface; Research Partners cluster covers consortium counterparties.
LIVRESQ
Ascendia’s browser-based authoring platform. Used by 158,900 creators across 7,260+ institutions to build interactive lessons, OERs, and SCORM-compatible modules.
LIVRESQ Companion
AI teacher assistant integrated into the LIVRESQ authoring surface, launched April 2026 as a direct result of Ascendia’s participation in Google for Startups Growth Academy: AI for GovTech (cohort selected Sep 2025 — see separate entry). First contract recorded in BVB current report ASC_20260408 reaches 10,000+ teachers across 800 schools in Romania.
LoI — Letter of Intent
A pre-contract commitment used in EU-programme consortium proposals. Ascendia’s EU programmes desk returns LoIs inside a published 5-working-day SLA.
Microsoft AI for Accessibility Hall of Fame
Microsoft global recognition register. Ascendia is one of three education companies worldwide and the only European education company included. The recognition is attributed to LIVRESQ — independent global authority signal anchoring the Accessibility pillar.
NIS2
Directive EU 2022/2555 — the EU directive on the security of network and information systems. Applies to digital service providers; Ascendia operations map against its obligations.
National Digital Pedagogy
National OER-production programme delivered on the LIVRESQ substrate: 60,000 teachers, 30,000+ Open Educational Resources, twelve teacher-training consortiums, Q1 2026 delivery milestone. Anchors the National Digital Pedagogy & EduLib pillar.
NVIDIA Connect
NVIDIA’s ISV partner programme. Ascendia’s acceptance was reported to BVB on 8 July 2025, strengthening the AI development layer.
OER — Open Educational Resource
Reusable learning content released under open licences for public use. National Digital Pedagogy delivers 30,000+ OERs across twelve teacher-training consortiums.
RFI — Request for Information
A pre-procurement enquiry. Ascendia’s public-sector desk acknowledges RFIs within 3 working days and returns a written response within 10 working days.
Romanian Police (Poliția Română)
National law-enforcement service. One of the three institutional counterparties (alongside DNSC and ARB) on the "Protection through Education" national digital-safety campaign.
Twelve-consortium structure
Sub-national delivery cadence behind National Digital Pedagogy: twelve teacher-training consortiums distributed across regional and county-level training networks. Holds the OER production programme together at national delivery cadence.
WCAG 2.1 AA
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, Level AA — the engineering target across LIVRESQ and CoffeeLMS surfaces.
